blog perfect 2Just as much as an inherent love for turtlenecks is in my DNA trendy jewelry is not. You are who you are and costume jewelry simply isn’t me. However, diamond studs (cubic zirconia, of course) totally are – just thirty grand shy of the real deal, my tried and true favorites are flawless: simple, classic, and sparkly enough to lead me through the darkest of times.

As I frequently do, I was browsing one of my favorite sites, Revolve, when I first spotted this dress. Seeing the slightest resemblance to a turtleneck and lace detailing busy enough to allow my cubic zirconia’s to stand alone, I immediately was sold. What more could I want?

Thing is, I pride myself in being rational, in not letting my emotions get involved and only making well-thought decisions. But like an amateur I was blindsided by the 60% markdown and completely forgot to check the most important thing – the length of the dress. With a shoulder seam to hem golden rule of 34 inches, anything less is an automatic no go.

But between the pom-pom ball trim and the beauty in the button back closure it was impossible to suppress my urge to wear it. So against my better judgement I ignored the 30 inch length and gave the dress a whirl. But like I said earlier, you are who you are and sacrificing comfort isn’t something I’m good at.

For a girl with an average height this dress would be lovely, but for anyone with a tall stature like mine it may be difficult to overlook the short length. That being said, this Tularosa number will ultimately have the shelf life of the many short counterparts before it – one season at best. Needless to say, you live and you learn!
