Per usual, the 4th signifies the change of seasons in the fashion world – summer styles are put to rest as highly anticipated pre-fall collections are released, and as usual, the exchange comes with the best of sales. With temps near 100 degrees pre-fall collections are wildly impractical and the truth of the matter is we’re still months away from kissing warm weather goodbye – making current summer markdowns even that much more desirable.
Shopping at the end of the season is a protocol I religiously follow because it makes designer clothes affordable. Without a doubt, it is my favorite shopping technique. The trick is knowing when fashion seasons end, when to buy (right now) and having foresight into the future. Although trends and tastes evolve, if you buy an outfit that is well-designed, well-made, and makes you feel your best, chances are you’ll love it next year just as much as you love it now.
Sometimes though, as with the outfit I’m wearing in the photos, I buy things with the intentions of saving them until next year but end up wearing them immediately. The anticipation of the Fourth enticed my desire for crisp whites and made it nearly impossible not to wear them. There’s nothing I love more than a monochromatic look – an all black outfit in the winter or all white in the summer – the elegance in the simplicity truly is like none other.
